Phinney ready to shine in Poland

American track specialist Taylor Phinney will lead a four-strong US team at the World Track Championships in Pruszkow, Poland this week. The 18-year-old Olympian will compete in the Individual Pursuit, Kilometre Time Trial, and Omnium, with Daniel Holloway and Colby Pearce listed in the Scratch and Madison. Shelly Olds will represent the women's team in the Points and Scratch events.

There is only a day to go to the beginning of the Track Cycling World Championships – Pruszkow 2009. During the next five days, the BGZ Arena velodrome will be the capital of the world cycling, where the best track riders will compete for 19 sets of medals.

Wim Stroetinga will represent the Netherlands at the Track World Championships in Pruszkow, Poland (March 25-29), and will look for medals in three disciplines. The Milram rider will go for top placings in Madison, Scratch and the Points race.

Head boy Staff leads UK class

Olympic track hero Jamie Staff will lead the Great Britain team at the World Track Championships in Pruszkow, Poland, this week. The 35-year-old will be one of the team’s most experienced riders, and will join fellow Olympians Ed Clancy, Jason Kenny and Victoria Pendleton. However the team will be without three of its Olympic champions - Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy and Rebecca Romero
